Payment: 100% of payment must be made prior to the appointment.
Pain Management: Topical lidocaine is provided to all patients and will be applied upon arrival for 30 minutes. Additional options include:
- Oral Medication (extra charge): Requires 72 hours’ notice before the appointment to arrange, fill, and prepare medication. Note: A driver is required if taking oral medication.
- Nitrous Oxide ($50/session): Can be added at any time during the process for an additional $50 per session.

Before your Treatment

Do not wear makeup on the day of treatment.
Excess hair may need to be shaved the night prior. Men should arrive cleanly shaven.
Avoid sun exposure and self-tanners for 4 weeks prior to treatment. This includes spray tans, tanning lotions, tanning beds, and direct sun exposure.
Avoid treatments that may irritate the skin (e.g., waxing, depilatories) for 1–2 weeks prior to treatment.
Notify the clinic of any changes to your health history or medications since your last appointment.
Herpes or cold sore history may require an anti-viral prescription before treatment.
Start the Jan Marini Skin Care Management System ideally 14 days prior to treatment (additional $399).
One week before your procedure, discontinue:
- Aspirin, ibuprofen, Excedrin, Motrin
- Supplements such as ginkgo biloba, ginseng, flax oil, cod liver oil, fish oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and other essential fatty acids
- Avoid caffeine and alcohol a few days before treatment for best results.
- If pain medication is necessary, Tylenol is recommended. You can contact us for additional pain management.

After your Treatment

Cool the treatment area for 10–20 minutes for comfort using a fan or A/C. Please do not use ice unless otherwise specified.
Sun Protection: Start using Jan Marini Sunscreen and protect the treated area from overexposure to sunlight beginning 24 hours post-treatment and continuing indefinitely. Avoid excessive tanning (sun exposure, tanning beds, and artificial tanning lotions) on treated areas during the entire course of treatment.
Expected Reactions: Bruising, redness, and swelling may occur, lasting from days to weeks.
Keep the Treatment Area Clean: For the first two days, keep the treatment area clean to prevent contamination or infection. Avoid any mechanical or thermal damage (e.g., hot tubs, saunas).
Moisturizer: Apply unscented, sensitive skin lotions and creams 24–72 hours after each treatment, then regularly throughout the treatment course.
Makeup: Makeup can be applied 24–72 hours after each session.
Gentle Cleansing: Generally, after 24 hours, you may use unscented, sensitive skin soaps. Avoid scrub soaps or exfoliants.
Avoid Skin Irritants: Refrain from using products containing tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, and astringents for a few days post-treatment.
Treatment Frequency: The number of sessions varies from 1–5, depending on the individual and treatment aggressiveness. Treatments are typically repeated every 3–6 weeks.
Prophylactic Antibiotics: An antibiotic may be prescribed for 1–3 days post-treatment. Contact your provider if you notice signs of infection, excessive swelling, redness, undue pain, or any unusual symptoms.
Post-Treatment Scabs: Tiny scabs may form 1–3 days after treatment and last several days. Do not touch or scratch them; allow them to flake off naturally.
Blisters: Though rare, blisters may occur. If so, they can be treated with a prescribed antibiotic ointment or burn cream, as advised by your provider.

No Topical Products: Discontinue Retin-A and Pigment Control Cream for at least 2 days post-treatment. Avoid makeup or lipstick on the treated area for at least 24 hours. It’s best to wait 72 hours before restarting your topical regimen.
Post-Care Instructions: Follow the Jan Marini Post TX2 instructions. The first application of Jan Marini BioShield Rapid Recovery Complex will be applied post-treatment; then apply at least twice daily for the first 3 days, and continue as preferred.
